San Francisco, 11/07/06

Rachel and the Bay.

A random street, at its intersection with Scott. That's a rather steep hill in the distance.

Part of the barracks complex set up before World War II.

Pretty much the same shot, but zoomed further out.

More Alcatraz. But from a new angle this time.

San Francisco, 11/07/06

Me, and my buddy Alcatraz.

Me and my other buddy, the Golden Gate Bridge.

Me and the Bridge again.

Bay Bridge and part of San Francisco through the Bridge.

More San Francisco through the Bridge.

San Francisco, 11/07/06

Golden Gate Bridge

Again.

And again.

There's that random guy again.

San Francisco Bay, and Alcatraz. Lay off me, it's a cool place.

San Francisco, 11/07/06

San Francisco Bay, from the north.

San Francisco Bay, from the north. Only this time it was obviously taken from Rachel's truck.

Golden Gate Bridge, from the north.

More Golden Gate Bridge.

Some random dude was way down off the path taking pictures of the Bridge.

San Francisco, 11/07/06

I'm not even sure what this was supposed to be a picture of, but the expression on Rachel's face is hilarious.

A closer approach to the Golden Gate Bridge.

San Francisco, 11/07/06

[Fully Clothed] Nude Approaching Golden Gate Bridge, with Antenna

Golden Gate Bridge, through the fog

Rearview mirror, vehicles, and San Francisco housing. I wish I had taken some more pictures of it, because it's pretty cool stuff.

A seagull. Also, Pier 39 with the city in the background.

THE Ghirardelli sign.

Error correction

I just noticed that I had the wrong date on all my San Francisco posts. Those now show correctly.

Portland, 11/04/06

Geanna

Amy

Unfortunately, these were the only pictures I took in Portland, other than some of some (relatively) cheap gas. Partly, I think, because of the crappy weather; partly because somebody else always seemed to have a camera, so I just thought "pictures are being taken, so I don't need to worry about it;" partly because I didn't want to haul my camera everywhere with me; and partly because I'm not an overly avid photographer. Next time, though, I'll be visiting when the weather is nicer, and will make sure to get more pictures. For those interested, Geanna has a few pictures from her birthday dinner up on her site.

York, May 2004

York Minster, west entrance.

Looking east from the crossing tower of York Minster.

Me in a limestone coffin (13th or 14th century, I think) in the undercroft of York Minster. Had there been a pillow, it actually would have been fairly comfortable.

York Minster, from the city walls.

Part of the ruins of St. Mary's Abbey, which was destroyed by Henry VIIIs troops around 1540. Also pictured are Alyssa and Corliss.

Again, not sure exactly what camera these were taken with. I think tomorrow I'm going to resume the pictures from California, and get back to my good old (new) Powershot.

London, May 2004

The White Tower, the main building in the Tower of London complex.

A bus, and Whitehall Palace, behind which Charles I was beheaded by Oliver Cromwell and his Protestant forces.

The actual City of London is only 1 square mile, and has one of these little dragon towers facing in each of the cardinal directions; if I remember correctly, they were intended to ward off evil.

Armor of Henry VIII; obviously from his earlier years, when he was still small enough to fit in a suit of armor.

Big Ben and the Parliament building, taken from the River Thames.

I'm not sure what camera these were taken with, actually. I borrowed my parents' camera for the trip, but it has since been dropped several times, and it's position in a trash heap somewhere or other makes it a bit hard for me to determine the model.

The voters demand a change!

Actually, I was the only voter in this situation. As much fun as the pictures from Frisco are, I think I need to start mixing things up a bit, and start posting some other pictures I've taken.

San Francisco, 11/07/06

On the way to San Francisco

Looking back at the Bay Bridge

More Bay Bridge

Still more Bay Bridge

And more of that fountain at Ghirardelli Square

San Francisco, 11/07/06

The lighting wasn't great, but this is the entrance to Ghirardelli Square

Fountain in Ghirardelli Square

Ghirardelli Square fountain from another angle

Self-explanatory. But for you uncultured types, this is the Golden Gate Bridge.

Another random shot of the Embarcadero
